Utz hau ’t Winterküningske e Ness in de Schöör. Wie de Auers alletwieds waore utcheflaoge – sie wulle föör de Junge chet te äte haole – bleve de Junge chans alläin häim.

Chet later kaom de Vajer tröök op ’t Ness. “Waat is hie vöörchefalle?” sach er. “Wä hät uch belestich? Cheer süht allenäij su verschrick ut!”

“Och, Papp,” sage sie, “äine Buddemann kaom sjös langs oos Ness. Hä sooch su wööstich en verschrickelik ut! Hä luurde in oos Ness mit sien chrute Ouge. Det hät ös su bang chemaak!”

“Ich schnapp ’t,” sach de Vajer, “Wu chung er här?”

“Nou,” sage sie, “hä chung dä Kantj op.”

“Wach!” sach de Vajer, “Ich chaohn häöm söke. Höb mer chäine Bang, Känjer. Ich fänj häöm waal.” Du flooch er achter häöm aan.

Wie er öm de Hook kaom, sooch er dao äine Liew loupe.

Mer ’t Winterküningske waor neet bang. Hä strick när op de Röök van de Liew en bechöss häöm uttemake.

“Waat deechs dich bi mie Hüüske,” sach er, “mien Känjer bang te make?!”

De Liew deech ävel nicks en leep chewuhn door.

Det maakde det de kläine Vogel häöm noch mie bechöss uttemake. “De höbs dao nix te söke, säch ’k ich dich! En este tröökkömps,” sach er, “nou, denn chäit d’r chet chebäöre! Ich doon ’t neet chär,” sach er, en er hööf äin van sien Püüt, “mer ich brääk dich de Röök mit miene Puut!”

Daonao flooch er tröök nao sie Ness.

“Su, Känjer,” sach er, “häöm höb ich ins chood chekristeliert. Dä kömp hie nuuts mie tröök.”
